With everything that's going on in the world right now with the pandemic, a lot of people are struggling with things like isolation, loneliness, and mental health issues. It's tough for all of us right now, especially here in Melbourne where we are currently in a stage 4 restriction with an 8pm curfew. Who would have thought that 2020 would turn out this way?
So while listening to Pennywise's Bro Hymn and remembering how this song brought people together and unified an audience, I had an idea. I mean, there's always time for one more Bro Hymn, right?
I began with an idea and thought I'd reach out to people and friends in bands I like. I would ask them to write some lyrics to the music I had about how this whole current world situation makes them feel. The first person I approached was J Prozac. Love his band, The Prozacs, and he just seemed like a genuinely good dude. Within a few days he had penned lyrics and was ready to record his vocals. Loved his enthusiasm. Top bloke.
Who next? Well Europe's Tower Crane Towers released an EP this year and it absolutely blew my mind. It's so freakin' good and stayed on the turntable for weeks. I figured I would reach out and see what happens. To my surprise, they were more than happy to be involved and a couple weeks later the band had two verses written and their vocals done. I was stoked this was happening so easily.
Xara is a friend in California who writes Ramonescore pop songs in her bedroom. She'd never been a part of anything like this so I asked her if she would harmonise my vocals to which she was more than happy to. When I got her vocals back, I thought her voice added something special so I stepped back and gave her her own lines and I am stoked how that turned out.
Last was Canadian rockers, The Follow-Ups. They released an album last year called Don't Like You Either which is pretty darn catchy. Their tune Nancy Pelosi was so funny that I had to approach them. They said yes and provided the final piece of the puzzle.
Mixing all of this together, we now have There's Always Time For One More Bro Hymn. It's a fun song of hope and happiness and standing together even when the chips are down. We got this! Let's fight this shitty situation and all come out winners.
So, what we are doing with this song is donating 100% of any money made from this to Mental Health Awareness programs. This song will be online from Bandcamp Friday through the weekend. It's listed as a pay what you want so if you are able to donate then please feel free to. If you can't afford to, and that's totally OK, you can still download the song and I hope it makes you smile.
I am very proud of what we all did with this song and I would like to thank everyone involved with it and especially you for listening to it.
Peace and love to you all.

lyrics
Death seemed so far away when we were so young
I thought we’d get smarter but we just grew dumb
It seems no one is listening
And ignorance is blissening
You and I were bound together
We said we’d fight the world forever
Life is too easy for a precious few
Blindly consuming while living subdued
Unaware of their own ignorance
Living lives of insignificance
Charming and useless but they'll never break us now
The end seemed so distant when we were just kids
I honestly thought we would have time to fix it
Now you’re just not listening
The silence is blistering
We had promised to be bound forever
Dared to fight the world together
I know people change and some values can fade
What was once so important starts drifting away
But now you have attached yourself
To what we used to laugh about
We promised to stay gold forever
At least one of us still remembers
We fly under the radar
Tell me none of this is real
The media is blitzing
Controlling what we feel
We've got to weather the storm
Be smart and hold the ones we love
Let the music save our souls.
Yeah, we've got each other and rock and roll.
Life can be so cruel and it’s too hard for some
It tricks us with lies and we now trust no one
But not everyone will let you down
I’m here to say that I’ll always be around
I’ll be with you forever
We can fight this world and rise up together
